Your QR code

Fill in the payment details. The QR code appears here.

Putting the QR code on an invoice

  1. Enter the payment details

Payee name, IBAN and amount are required. BIC and remittance information are optional; the invoice number makes good remittance information.

  2. Create the QR code

Select “Create QR code”. If something is wrong, a list above the form says what and where.

  3. Save the image

“Download the QR code as PNG” saves it as an image file for your invoice template.

  4. Put it on the invoice

Place the image next to the payment details in Word, Excel or your invoicing software, and scan it once with your own banking app before sending.

What the code contains

The code follows EPC069-12 of the European Payments Council, version 002. Line by line it holds: the tag BCD, the version, the character set UTF-8, the identifier SCT for a SEPA credit transfer, the BIC if given, the payee's name, the IBAN, the amount in euros and the remittance information. It is encoded with error correction level M, as the standard requires.

A PDF with a payment QR code is not an e-invoice under the German mandate; that needs structured data such as an XRechnung or ZUGFeRD invoice.

Frequently asked questions

What is an EPC QR code?

A QR code that holds the data of a SEPA credit transfer in euros, as defined by the European Payments Council in EPC069-12. Banking apps that support it fill in payee, IBAN, amount and reference when the customer scans it. In Germany it is known as GiroCode.

Is this the Swiss QR-bill?

No. The Swiss QR-bill is a different standard with its own structure and payment types. This page creates EPC QR codes for SEPA transfers in euros.

Are my bank details sent anywhere?

No. The QR code is created entirely in your browser; neither IBAN nor amount leaves your device.
